And look to the sky, in its vast, empty blue, But it's not alone, for the sun is its mate; Its children the stars and the clouds and the moon. Yet I sit alone -- half a soul to be sure. My heart struggles outward to look through the world For one who will find me to bond with my soul To show that my deepest of thoughts can be heard. I know there is one who will find me someday To lift my lone soul from forgotten embrace, To join with my heart and to make my soul whole, To give me the wings made of love's perfect faith. For life on this Earth was not meant to be lived By souls all alone, who alone never share The tears found in laughter and sorrow and peace. --Alone, all alone without someone to care. But when we are given a life on this Earth A beautiful plan yet unfolds right away, So one never must be but one in this life, But company sure is provided each day. Like stars of the sky we are given a home Where parents can love us and show us the way, For they've gone before to exper'ence the joy Of learning and growing and loving each day. And then when we reach of that age that's most new, When parents' sweet guidance shows wings on our hearts, We fly from the nest for to find our own souls To try out our life as though it were an art. And this age exists now to make our souls wise. Alone we must be when our hearts start to fly To teach us that wings come in pairs on this Earth That souls must have mates -- as the sun has the sky. I sit here alone, wrapped in layers of self. My heart will come back and will set my soul free And life never more will be lonely -- but whole-- When soulmates together forever we'll be. |
