I Wonder

I wonder what makes flowers bloom;
What makes them smell so sweet?
What makes small birds sing joyfully
Of love and hope and peace?

I wonder what makes clouds roll by
In special, changing shapes.
What makes leaves green, and then, in fall,
What makes their colors change?

I wonder what makes rivers flow
And bubble through the miles.
How does a tiny baby know
Just how to make a smile?

I wonder what makes stars to shine
And 'luminate the night.
And then, come morn', how does the sun
Know just the time to rise?

I wonder just what makes the waves
To rise and meet the shore.
And how do birds know how to fly
Or glide, or dive, or soar?

I wonder how the setting sun
Knows how to make such colors.
Who taught the wind just how to blow
And butterflies to flutter?

I wonder how a tiny seed
Can grow into a tree;
And how a bird can leave its shell
With just its tiny beak.

I wonder what makes colors form
A bow after the rain,
Or how the night creates the dew
Before the dawn of day.

I wonder why the moon is some-
Times round and sometimes not,
And how the river waters fall
And send such gentle drops.

I wonder if it's peace or joy
Or love for fellow man.
I think I'll never wish to know --
Just wonder all I can.
