The last bright light sits in the west;
The moon, blood-red, begins to set.
So darkest night will soon begin
Without a sun or moon to shine,
And one might think it may be grim.
But as the Earth now slowly spins
The night will show its glory fine
And peace will touch my soul, and thine.
Away from Men and all they do
The night may show its glory true.
The sky's not black, not dark at all,
But filled with such an awesome sight
To make me feel so great, yet small,
As stars reach out, my soul to call.
For, falling soft from greatest height,
They bathe my soul in cleansing light.
And all the drowning cares of day
By starlight must all flee away.
So free I feel from day-time cares
When once I see the stars of night
And feel the peace in Man so rare.
I feel night soft -- the touch of prayer.
At once all wrongs are turned to right
When bathed in starlight is the night.
My soul is free; I am reborn
When starlight bright I do adorn,
When Milky Way does Earth embrace
And heart and soul at last take flight
And tears of joy caress my face
And all my woes night does erase
And peace reigns strong with gentle might.
I bathe in starlight, like the night.
And when the sun awakes from rest
The Earth is clean anew, refreshed.
The dawn will wake a peaceful world
That will forget the stars of night
Whose beauty, harmony unfurled
And filled the night with twinkling pearls
So souls may feel that all is right
When bathed in starlight was the night.
And here I learn what I am taught:
To always do just what I ought.
For, as the night is lit by stars,
So conflict flees from peace and right.
For light's not made by killing dark,
Nor peace by striking conflict's heart,
But conflict dies in peace's height,
As starlight fills the soul of night.
So ne'er be lost or sad, alone,
Nor feel your heart with sorrow prone,
But feel, instead, the joy of peace
That echoes through the still of night.
Know harmonies that never cease
And always on compassion feast.
For then you'll feel your heart take flight
To bathe in starlight's cleansing light.
