This is actually two different negatives which I sandwiched together in the dark room. I had
some problems because the negative of the comet was on color film while the negative of
the baby was on black and
white. I was fortunate, however, that the comet was where it was on the negative, because,
although I had control of its position from right to left, I could not make it higher or lower. I
was fortunate to be able to get
the comet in the baby's line of sight.
About the Title:
This is a play on words. The
name of the comet the baby is
looking at is "Hale-Bopp". My mom and I used to get up before sunrise, look at the
comet and say, "Hail, Bopp!" I wanted to remember that, so I included it in the title of this
photograph.
